There will be badminton tryouts on March 4, 6 and 7 in the big gym afterschool. Junior tryouts will be on March 4 and 6 while senior tryouts will be on March 7. Good luck and we hope to see you there.
It has been a long time coming but for the first time since 2001 Point Grey's Improv team has advanced to the Lower Mainland finals. The team will be performing tonight at the Round House Theatre to a sold out audience.
After just squeeking into the Wildcard round last night the team took top honors to make it into the Finals.
The team has worked hard for the past three years to get to this point and if they make the top two this evening, they will advance to the nationals in Ottawa.
Good Luck Team!
In their final game of the city championship tournament on Friday the girls played Eric Hamber. It was a see saw battle all the way with our opponents taking an early lead only to see us come storming back with a barrage of three point shots. In the 4th quarter Hamber opened up a lead and unfortunately in the end we could'nt quite close the gap losing 43-37. The result left the girls in 4th place in the city after having played some inspired basketball this week. They are tired, battered, bruised and very proud of themselves for how well they played.
Victoria McCann was selected as a second team all star for the tournament, a well deserved honor not only for her outstanding play, but also because she played the entire 40 minutes in the last two games this week.
Our team was selected as the Most Sportsmanlike Team for the championships. This group of girls have carried themselves in a manner that Point Grey can be proud of throughout the season, and I think this honor is very appropriate for our girls.
The team will now move on to the Lower Mainland Championships. First game will be Saturday Feb 16th at 3:45, location will be Steveston-London in Richmond.
