Prerequisite: Physical Education 10
The emphasis of this course is to provide an environment where girls will develop life-long healthy living habits. The curriculum of the course may include a variety of activities such as: fitness classes, yoga, pilates, weight training, spinning classes, hip hop, aqua fit, rock climbing, skating, swimming, biking, roller blading, sailing and wind surfing. Depending on class composition, there could be a hands-onenhancement area concentrating on healthy eating, which will focus on food selection, preparation and sports nutrition. If the timetable allows there may also be a sewing component where students will construct outdoor gear in preparation for our various outdoor activities. A course fee will be required to pay for activities that will take place in sport establishments throughout the lower mainland and students will be responsible for their own transportation to and from community facilities.
Note: This course will stay away from team or individual sportsthat limit the involvement of the students based on their skill level, thus limiting their active participation.
